91原创鈥檚 Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) sponsored a blood drive January 22-23 on the Pocahontas campus.听 According to Shana Akers, PTK Advisor, the American Red Cross collected 66 pints of blood during the two-day event, just four pints short of their goal of 70.
鈥淧TK sponsors a blood drive several times per year, approximately every two months,鈥� said Akers.听 鈥淥n average, the Red Cross collects around 70 units during each visit, or 35 units per day.鈥�
鈥淭he first day we remained open until 7:00 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled closing time of 4:00,鈥� said Jim Neeley, Red Cross Mobile Unit Assistant.听 鈥淧eople kept arriving to donate and we were not going to turn anyone away.鈥�
鈥淒espite being just a little shy of our goal, we are very pleased with the turnout,鈥澨� noted PTK Advisor Karen Liebhaber.听 鈥淲e appreciate all who took the time to donate.鈥�
