91原创 is pleased to announce Mariah Dowdy of Paragould has been awarded the Florence Nightingale Scholarship.

Dowdy is a 2012 graduate of Greene County Tech High School. She is married to Trent Dowdy and together they share three children, Liam, Miles, and Vivian. She is seeking a degree in nursing.

The Nightingale Scholarship is sponsored and chosen by the BRTC nursing faculty and staff. Recipients are chosen based on qualities that exemplify the spirit of caring embodied by Florence Nightingale. These nurses are motivators and visionaries who contribute to the redefining of the profession of nursing

91原创, in collaboration with the Eddie Mae Herron Center, will be hosting a Black History Month Event on Tuesday, February 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The event will be held at the Randolph County Development Center on the Pocahontas campus, located at 1410 Hwy. 304 East.

This year鈥檚 speaker is Brian Rodgers, adult education interpretive specialist for the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, Arkansas鈥檚 Museum. Rodgers will be presenting 鈥淓choes of the Journey: George & Gloria on the Great Migration鈥 a powerful program exploring the Great Migration through the personal story of George and Gloria, a couple who made the journey from the rural South to the urban North in search of opportunity, dignity, and freedom. Through George and Gloria's experience, audiences will gain a deeper understanding of how the Great Migration reshaped families, communities, and the cultural landscape of America.

Rodgers holds a bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degree in history from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a focus on African American institutions in Arkansas from 1868 to 1920, the intersection of church and politics in the African American community, and Emancipation Day celebrations across the state.

Rodgers is an active member of several community and professional organizations, including the Pulaski County Historical Society, Arkansas Historical Association, Arkansas Museum Association, Little Rock Metro Rotary Club, and Downtown Museum Consortium. In his free time, he enjoys spending quality time with his son, Christopher, attending live music events, and creating lasting memories with his family.

David Stone of Conway has been awarded the Eldridge Leon Neece Memorial Scholarship.

Stone is a 2007 graduate of Conway High School. He is the son of Jayme Stone of Russellville and Dennis Stone of DeQueen. He is married to Erinn Stone and is seeking a degree in criminal justice.

The Eldridge Leon Neece Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of Eldridge Neece, father of BRTC Vice President of Finance and Administration Rhonda Stone. After moving back to Arkansas in 1972, Neece worked for DeClerk LP Gas until his retirement in 2006. Neece also served as a deacon at Sutton Free Will Baptist Church for nearly 48 years. He was known for his warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering support, touching the lives of many with his kindness.

First National Bank of Commerce (FNB) recently donated $5,000 to the 91原创 Foundation as part of its quarterly pledge. FNB鈥檚 Paula Haskins presented the check to BRTC President Martin Eggensperger and BRTC Foundation Chair Melissa Wright-Davis.

The BRTC Foundation exists solely to provide resources to further the academic programs and activities of BRTC. The Foundation鈥檚 mission is to assist with the development and enhancement of programs and facilities; to assist in providing broader educational opportunities and services to students, staff, and alumni; and to receive, hold, and administer gifts or grants.
