Black River Technical College鈥檚 (BRTC) Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter held their 8th Annual Day of Caring on both Pocahontas and Paragould campuses on Wednesday, December 4.
鈥淒ay of Caring鈥� is a day when PTK, in partnership with BRTC鈥檚 Student Government Association (SGA), gives BRTC students who are also parents an opportunity to pick a Christmas present for their child. PTK and SGA recognize that college can be hard on a parent financially and they want to help ease that burden during the holiday season.
Between both campuses the event saw a total of 124 students and 288 toys were taken to new homes for Christmas. PTK also had a prize drawing for participating students and each campus gave away a girl鈥檚 bike and a boy鈥檚 bike. The Pocahontas winners were Skylar Freeman, girl鈥檚 bike, and Kim Watson, boy鈥檚 bike. The Paragould winners were Maron Lesley, girl鈥檚 bike, and Ava Lincoln, boy鈥檚 bike.
