Black River Technical College鈥檚 (BRTC) fire science program recently held a chili cook-off to raise money that goes to the BRTC Foundation to fund scholarships for fire science students.
Walnut Ridge, Pocahontas, Paragould, Ash Flat, Hardy, Highland, and Hoxie Fire departments gathered to face off using their favorite chili recipes.
The overall winner was Highland鈥檚 Fire Department鈥檚 Koby Herring.
The People鈥檚 Choice Award was awarded to Paragould Fire Department鈥檚 Bryan Carter.
鈥淭his fundraiser is very important to the fire science program,鈥� Fire Science Program Director Alan Haskins said. 鈥淎ll proceeds help ensure there are funds available for prospective firefighter students who do not qualify for financial aid.鈥�
