91原创 Employees Participate in Martin Luther King Jr. Day Event

91原创 employees, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Vice President of Student Affairs Jason Smith, Dean of Students Dane Dillion, Nursing Instructor Amanda Plumley and Computer Support Technician Leyman Barber, participated in the Eddie Mae Herron Center of Pocahontas鈥檚 Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day Walk and celebration.

The MLK walk began at the Eddie Mae Herron Center on Archer Street where approximately 100 participants were led through town to the Randolph County Courthouse before ending the walk at Marr Street Productions where speeches and entertainment took place. BRTC VP of Student Affairs Jason Smith gave a presentation about Dr. King鈥檚 life during the celebration. 听BRTC鈥檚 Minority Recruitment and Retention Taskforce Community Outreach Representative Raul Blasini was presented with the Humanitarian Award, which is sponsored and awarded each year by the Eddie Mae Herron Center.

鈥淲e had people from all over the state and several from out of state, as well鈥.I hope the entire community knows how much we appreciate them and the support they always give us,鈥 Eddie Mae Herron Center Director Pat Johnson said, according to the Pocahontas Star Herald.

\”It was an honor to join so many community members as we paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King and celebrated the ongoing positive impact that Dr. King has made on countless lives.听 The MLK Day Walk was a great success and I applaud the outstanding efforts of Ms. Pat Johnson, Chair of the Eddie Mae Herron Center Board, as well as the other community volunteers who provided quality services for this worthwhile听event,\” said Baine.
